OUR STORY - OUR MISSION

Since 1998, the Southeastern New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy has been dedicated to preparing public safety professionals to serve their communities with integrity, professionalism, accountability, and excellence. As a division of New Mexico Junior College, SNMLEA serves as a regional training center providing state-certified basic training, advanced instruction, and continuing education for law enforcement officers, public safety telecommunicators, and other public safety professionals.

For more than 25 years, SNMLEA has successfully graduated over 1,000 cadets and continues to benefit from the support and partnerships of the law enforcement agencies in and surrounding the southeastern region of New Mexico. These relationships help ensure our programs remain relevant, practical, and responsive to the ever-changing needs of the public safety profession.

Through comprehensive instruction, hands-on application, and industry-driven training, SNMLEA remains committed to developing competent, ethical, and service-oriented professionals while strengthening the agencies and communities they serve.
